Perception of Students on the Use of Management Information Systems in Academic Activities: a Study in the Course of Accounting Science

Resumo

O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar a percepção de discentes da graduação em Ciências Contábeis quanto aos benefícios e malefícios proporcionados pela inserção dos Sistemas de Informações Gerenciais (SIG) em classe e nas atividades acadêmicas. Os resultados apontaram que os discentes concordam, em maior proporção, com os benefícios que o uso da ferramenta pode proporcionar em sala de aula. Destacou-se também que algumas características do perfil dos respondentes exerceram influência sobre a percepção destes, tais como gênero, situação profissional e o fato de já terem feito uso ou não de SIG. Desta forma, o presente estudo procurou mostrar que essa habilidade exigida para o contador pode ser iniciada já na graduação, destacando que os discentes estão abertos para isso e sentem a necessidade de aprendê-la o quanto antes.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to verify a perception of undergraduate students of Accounting Science as some benefits and harms provided by the insertion of Management Information Systems (MIS) in class and in academic activities. The results pointed out that the students agree in greater proportion with the benefits that the use of the tool can provide in the classroom. It was also highlighted that some of the characteristics of the profile of the respondents had an influence on the perception of these, such as the gender, professional situation and the fact of having already used MIS or not. Thus, the present study sought to show that this skill required for the accountant can be started already at the undergraduate level, noting that the students are open to it and feel the need of getting them as soon as possible.
