Analysis of the Satisfaction of Human Needs Among Accounting students

RESUMO

O objetivo do trabalho foi verificar se os estudantes de Ciências Contábeis consideram satisfeitas suas necessidades, com base nas teorias da motivação, verificando se há diferença entre aqueles que já trabalham na área contábil e aqueles que atuam em outras áreas. Para o alcance do objetivo traçado realizou-se uma pesquisa do tipo survey com coleta de questionários no curso de Ciências Contábeis de uma universidade pública localizada no agreste sergipano. Verificou-se que as necessidades sociais, de segurança e fisiológicas, conforme divide Maslow, relacionadas com os fatores higiênicos de Herzberg estavam sendo supridas no momento da pesquisa, sendo que a necessidade de segurança apresentou maior nível de satisfação entre os alunos que já trabalhavam na área contábil, enquanto que as demandas sociais estavam sendo mais satisfeitas entre os alunos que atuavam em área diferente. Por outro lado, as demandas de ego e autorrealização não estavam sendo totalmente supridas no momento da pesquisa, além de não haver diferença entre o aluno que já trabalha no setor contábil e outro que atua em área diferente. Os resultados da pesquisa podem servir de parâmetro para que os empregadores da região verifiquem o que podem melhorar, visando mais qualidade de vida ao seu funcionário, o que, consequentemente, acarretará em um desempenho melhor de suas funções. ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to verify if accounting students consider their needs satisfied. This study is based on theories of motivation to check if there is a difference between those who already work in accounting and those who work in other areas. A survey was applied on accounting students of a public university located in the countryside of the state of Sergipe, Brazil. Considering Maslow’s division and related to Herzberg’s hygienic factors, this study found that social, safety and physiological needs were being supplied at the time of the research, and the need for safety presented a higher level of satisfaction among the students who already worked in the area, whereas social demands were being more satisfied among students working in a different area. On the other hand, ego and self-fulfillment demands were not being fully met at the time of the research, and there was no difference between the two types of student. The results of the survey can be used as a parameter for the employers in the region to check where they can improve, aiming at a better quality of life for their employees, which will consequently lead to a better performance of their duties.
